We have been using the Temp-Taker™ since last year and I have always thought it was a wise investment of my Coordinator. We all thought it would be wrapped in gold because of the price, however we found out soon enough that it was worth every penny she spent. Now that you have updated the Temp-Taker™, we love it even more than before. I couldn't believe that it was so much easier, and you only had to train me over the phone. [...] I'm the QA Director for Lackmann Culinary located at Kennedy Space Center. I just wanted to express my opinion and gratitude for all that we have encountered from the start since we originally implemented the Temp-Taker™ [units] out here in our cafeterias in May of 2007. Jason Mobley introduced them to us and was a major role in helping us get our staff trained and each Temp-Taker™ loaded and operable in all 7 of our cafeterias. Jason also spent several hours working with me to customize each of the units to accommodate each facility's needs due to our extremely strict HACCP compliance program that we have to follow. When we first got started we struggled a lot with trying to program them to meet our inspectors standards as well as provide them with the data they required on a daily basis and diligently. With the support from the ITD staff, Jason, their Tech, and a lot of patience, in time we have been able to provide them with what we need. As everyone knows the FDA Codes is a foodservice bible so to speak, and being on a government facility we have the strictest of the strict. The data that the Temp-Taker™ provides is critical, as well as accurate, and allows us several options for tracking information. We have had our Temp-Taker™ [units] for 1 year now and we also have invested in the software updates which have improved them even since we originally got our units. I will say one thing: a lot of people are not subject to change and also are afraid of technology, but our staff has found them easy to use as well as they have become dependant on them and they really are glad this has made a drastic change on paperwork. No more HACCP sheets by hand. Once again I commend the ITD staff for being patient with all of the phone calls and all the issues that we have had to address to accommodate our facilities, but it has been worth it in the end—we are now moving on and installing them one by one in our other Lackmann sites. I decided to buy the Prep-Pal™ because of the cost factor and small size of this unit. I have saved money on labels. My expectations were met; Georgia health department is very strict. The different inspectors that came to the restaurant didn't have any problems reading our labels. The benefits [of using Prep-Pal™ are]: fast; no messy handwriting, the unit prints clearly; no mistakes on date and time; you can list your products for different regions...; It's very easy to take off and clean the plastic containers, no more messy glue residue... It takes away human error, if someone doesn't know what day it is or writes the wrong date on label. They're easy to read and to remove. It looks very professional when you open the walk-in cooler. The labels don't run or smear - with other, dissolvable labels, if moisture gets on them they smear and it's hard to see what was written. I really love [the Prep-Pal labels]. The program itself is easy to use, to add or change things. Very user friendly. Once we ran out of labels so we had to use the old labels - everyone was complaining. We have a new field inspector and she had never seen [Prep-Pal labels]. I showed her how to use the system and she was impressed, and commented that it was really nice.
